Andrew beleives that traditional narrative analysis don't really apply to pop videos.Reasons are
- Pop videos appoach narrative from different views to novels and films.
- Pop videos are based around songs and often do not portrays traditional narrative structures.
- Artist are used as narrator and as a character
- Artist often looks directly into the camera. This is to interact with the audience.
Pop songs/videos do have a clear closure and ending of the narrative. 3minute singles must have an end and often reflects in the structure of the music. Result in Climax or constant repitition.
The visual aspect of the song may go further beyond the intending meaning. Videos are often used eye candy to often promote other commodities for example films.
Pop videos are easily recognised by the stylistic features that are used. Woman are represented as objects of male desires. Some female artist perposely represented themselves as eye candy for when (Beyonce and Modonna).
Some videos different objects represents different instruments.
Videos thats tries to appeal to a more mainstream audience faces a risk of alienating the core target audience.
To conclude videos song writers in movies often shows clips and images of the movie within there video.

This is a British rap video that also appeal with the American audience because the location cuts between somewhere in America and in the streets of Peckham and it also features an American artist. This suits the category because the lyrics and the videos match for example when he said "the true religion jeans match the ralph" (ralph lauren shoes)
. Furthmore the the lyrics are saying and video is showing you that you can't go in to certain areas because it has a bad reputation. Additionally it's also saying dont judge us because you dont know what our lifes are like because the media portrays us in such a bad way that you would want to come and find out.Amplication Video introduces new meanings that contradict with the lyrics but add its other meaningful values. - 50cent many many men
This is a rap video and it fits the category because the video and the lyrics tells the story of when he got shot. Also the lyrics is dark and so is the video. furthermore the video shows when he was getting shot his enermies were celebrating because he they thought they killed him, they were sadly mistaken this is adding a new layer because it didn't match with the lyrics but it didnt controdict it. Additionally another new layer of meaning in the video is that the guys that was involved in his shooting was caught and they "taken care of" as you can see by the inplication that he was found in the boot of a car. Also the two other guy got shot several times, prosumably dead. Which matches his lyrics because he said "what goes around comes around". So this implies that he had something to do with the fact that they "aint breathing" which is introdcing a new meaning through video.
Disjuncture: Disjuncture connection between the lyrics and video or where the video contradict the lyrics - Bob Marley - No woman no cry
This is a raggae video that has a little connect which is when we see a CU of someone that looksas if they ar
e are crying. Additionally the only other connect to the lyrics is that the video is slow and sad because they are not dancing and they look very emotional in the video, exception for the ending were it gets more upbeat and Bob starts dancing and jumping around. Apart from that the video is just of Bob Marley performing on stage and there are no strong connection between the video and lyrics because throughout i do not see a woman crying.
