Andrew Goodwin

Goodwin believes that traditional narrative analyses doesn't apply to pop videos. He thinks pop videos approach narrative from different angle to novels and films. It has different narrative structures because firstly pop videos are built around songs and often songs do not pose traditional narrative structures, also the pop video uses the singer both as narrator and as a character and lastly the singer often looks directly at the camera and tries to involve the viewer at home with the performance.

DISJUNCTURE: (connection between the lyrics and video)

This video is about how the man is in prison but is questioning if his girlfriend is still there for him. The video doesnt connect to the lyrics as it shows him on the phone speaking all the lyrics to her.

ILLUSTRATION: (video tells the story of lyrics)

This video tells the story of a stressful relationship, where the boyfriend and girlfriend have problems. They are expressing their feelings and how they have been hurt and how they are fed up with it all now.
AMPLIFICATION: (meaningful values)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8z_5ZtPzWI

This video has a meaningful value as the singer is stating he is back from prison and he is back in roll. He states that beating up haters is not worth it and asks god for forgiveness.
